Good Morning McDade Guardians and Community,
After hearing the county reports and talking to other areas Superintendents, all Bastrop area districts are going to move forward with closure for Monday, January 26, 2026. We have frozen roads across our district and in neighboring districts and believe that our buses and staff will not be safe on the roads. Temperatures will not rise high enough to melt the ice. We will continue to monitor with Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management.

🚓 Special Visit to McDade High School 🚓
Today, students in the Principles of Law class at McDade High School had the opportunity to learn from the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT).
The team spoke with students about their mission, training, and specialized equipment, giving them a real-world look at tactical operations and careers in public safety. Students also had the chance to see the armored vehicle and ask questions about teamwork, preparation, and service.
Thank you to the Bastrop County SRT for taking the time to engage with our students and support community education. This was a memorable and impactful experience for our McDade Bulldogs! 🐾🇺🇸

Mcdade ISD Guardians and Community:
With the approaching winter weather event, MISD officials will continue to closely monitor the local forecast over the next few days and work closely with Bastrop County Emergency Management to determine if changes to our normal schedule will be necessary.
Any school closure or delayed start announcement for Monday will likely be made by early Sunday afternoon. We want to allow enough time for parents and district employees to plan accordingly. At the same time, we will gather as much information as possible and try not to announce too early.
All District Athletics events have been canceled due to the weather.
As always, we will take every precaution in the interest of safety for our students, employees, and Guardians.

Due to inclement weather on Saturday we will be moving the High School All Region Band Concert to Friday at 6:00pm at the Bastrop Performing Arts Center.
There will be no practice or performance on Saturday.
We'll see you on Friday in Bastrop!

Our Secondary Campus held an award assembly today honoring our 7th–12th grade students who earned All A Honor Roll, A/B Honor Roll, and Perfect Attendance for the first semester.
While this was not an open campus event for parents, we are incredibly proud of the outstanding number of students recognized. Way to go Bulldogs!! ❤️🐾🏫📚

The JH games this week have been moved to Wednesday January 21st. 5pm.
JH Boys @ Milano
JH Girls @ McDade
High School Basketball:
Friday's game @Rosebud-Lott will now be on Thursday January 22nd
The schedule will go as follows: JV Boys @4:30pm followed by Varsity Girls @5:45pm and Varsity Boys @6:30pm

Congratulations to Peyton Munzer for performing as first chair tuba in the Middle School All Region Band Concert on Saturday!
Peyton auditioned against 30 other tubas from across our music region and won first chair! After rehearsing on Friday evening and on Saturday he performed a full concert on Saturday evening!
Congrats Peyton on a fantastic performance!

🏀 ATHLETICS ANNOUNCEMENT 🏀
Bartlett ISD will be canceling school for the next two days. As a result, there will be NO Junior High boys or girls games tomorrow night.
Varsity games on Friday are still scheduled to be played at this time, but this is subject to change. Please continue to monitor Thrillshare for updates.
Updated Friday Schedule:
• Varsity Game 1: 5:00 PM
• Varsity Game 2: 6:15 PM
• NO JV Boys Game on Friday
