House Bill 5-Local Evaluation Report for Community and Student Engagement (CaSE)
"All districts are required, with the passing of HB 5 by the 83rd Texas Legislature, to evaluate their performance and the performance of each campus with regards to "Community and Student Engement." Districts must assign one of four perfomance ratings; Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable, or Unacceptable, to the district and each campus. These ratings will be awarded for overall performance in the following eight categories: Fine Arts, Wellness and Physical Education, Community and Parent Involvement, 21st Century Workforce Development Program, Second Language Acquisition Program, Digital Learning Environment, Dropout Prevention Strategies, and Educational Programs for Gifted and Talented Students." (TEA, 2014)
With the passing of HB 2804 by the 84th Texas Legislature, two additional requirements were added for districts and campuses with regards to the CaSE report. The first of these being the posting of the rubrics that are used by the school district and campuses to arrive at their ratings. You can click on the link below to view the rubric used by both our distrct and each of our campuses, to determine the scores for our CaSE ratings, which are then posted in the "Local Evaluation Results Chart" section below.
The second additional requirement added to the CaSE report, "as directed by TEC 39.0546, each district and campus must annually choose three CaSE components for the purpose of inclusion in the state academic accountability system." The three CaSE components each campus and the district chooses for inclusion in the follow year's accountability calculations is reported on "the Local Evaluation Results Chart," as well as reported to TEA as required.
